In a decisive move showcasing unity and solidarity within the Labour Party (LP), the 19 chairmen representing the northern states have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Peter Obi.
Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the party in the elections, received resounding support from the LP’s northern zone chairman, Muhammad Abdullahi Lawal.
Speaking to journalists following a meeting in Bauchi, Lawal emphasized Obi’s embodiment of character and principles synonymous with the Labour Party’s vision and Nigeria’s future unity.
He stated, “Sequel to this, we reaffirmed our unwavering support for Peter Obi, who embodies character and distinguished principles that define the Labour Party and the great future of our country’s unity.
“We stand in solidarity with him, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Obedient movement groups and all other stakeholders who are committed to uniting the party and upholding its integrity.”
Lawal clarified that the party had resolved its internal divisions, highlighting the existence of only one central authority. To further consolidate party unity and progression, the LP chairmen collectively agreed to disband any remaining factions, resolving to move forward as a cohesive entity.
