The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps announced the dismantling of a bunkering site in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State.
According to a statement by NSCDC spokesperson Babawale Afolabi on Wednesday, operatives also seized 9,000 litres of automotive gas from oil thieves in the state.
Afolabi stated that the operations were carried out by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad as part of a renewed crackdown on economic saboteurs.
The NSCDC team destroyed the illegal bunkering site, including a large local boat used for transporting locally refined petroleum products, and a loading point.
Afolabi explained that the squad acted on credible intelligence regarding oil bunkering activities at Inhandu/Ikwariator Riverside in Ukwa East Local Government Area, where uninterrupted loading and transportation of AGO concealed in cellophane bags were ongoing.
