PHOTOS: Nwabali Conferred Chieftaincy Title in Rivers Hometown

TITLE

Stanley Nwabali, the goalkeeper for the Super Eagles, was on Sunday, bestowed with a chieftaincy title by Nzeobi Amida, the traditional ruler of Mgbede community in Egbema Kingdom, Rivers State.

The title, “Ugo Egbema,” meaning “The Pride of Egbema Kingdom,” was granted to Nwabali in acknowledgment of his stellar performance during the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, as reported by Nigerian sports website, BSN.

Amida, who also serves as the chairman of ONELGA Council of Chiefs, emphasized that the title recognizes the honor Nwabali brought to Egbema Kingdom and ONELGA through his contributions to the Super Eagles.

Additionally, The PUNCH revealed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State gifted Nwabali N20m and bestowed upon him the honor of the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State.

Moreover, Bola Tinubu honored each player and official of the Nigerian Super Eagles with the Member of the Order of the Niger national award for their achievement of securing the silver medal at the recently concluded AFCON.
