The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has refuted claims of an increase in corps members’ allowance, clarifying that no such approval has been granted by Bola Tinubu.
Speculations arose following statements attributed to NYSC Director General Brigadier General YD Ahmed during a visit to the Ogun State Orientation Camp in Sagamu.
In a statement released on Monday, NYSC spokesman Eddy Megwa denounced the reports as a “misrepresentation of facts.” He emphasized that General Ahmed, while addressing corps members, had merely highlighted the potential for an increment linked to the minimum wage once approved.

He stated, “Meanwhile, as part of his oversight functions during Orientation periods, the DG advised the corps members on different issues relating to patriotism, entrepreneurship, security consciousness, and community development among other issues of youth development for leadership roles. Members of the press are advised to be factual in their reportage of NYSC activities, so as not to incite unnecessary apprehension among the Scheme’s stakeholders.”
