NYSC Has No Right to Intimidate Corps Members – Mr. Macaroni

Popular Nigeria activist and comedian, Adebowale “Debo” Adedayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, has condemned the reported threats against a female corps member who criticized Tinubu-led administration.

In a tweet on his X handle, he addressed the NYSC Director-General, State Coordinators, and other officials, stating that corps members have the right to express their views on the government’s performance without fear of intimidation or victimization.

Mr. Macaroni emphasized that corps members are Nigerian citizens with constitutional rights, including the freedom to hold leaders accountable.

He argued that the presidency is a public service role, and every citizen, regardless of their status as a corps member, has the right to voice concerns about governance and national issues.

His statement comes amid growing public backlash against the NYSC following allegations that officials threatened a corps member for speaking about economic hardship.

Mr. Macaroni’s remarks add to the pressure on the NYSC leadership to clarify its stance and ensure that corps members are not unlawfully silenced for exercising their fundamental rights.
