Subair Enitan, a student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, has embarked on a handwashing marathon to challenge the Guinness World Record for the longest hour of handwashing by an individual.
The current record holder is Alvin Roy from India, who washed his hands for 48 hours and 42 minutes in 2019.
Enitan began her marathon on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the Subcar park of OAU.
She aims to wash her hands for 50 hours, surpassing the existing record by more than an hour.
She is using a specially designed handwashing station that has a timer, a water tank, a soap dispenser, and a faucet.
As of the time of this report, Enitan has successfully completed over six hours of handwashing.
