Governor Godwin Obaseki has appointed Omobayo Marvellous Godwins, a 38-year-old Engineer, as his deputy governor.
The decision came shortly after the Edo State House of Assembly’s Monday impeachment of Philip Shaibu.
This move was prompted by the findings of a seven-man investigative panel, chaired by Justice S.A. Omonua.
The panel had been convened by the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, following allegations of misconduct leveled against Shaibu.
The investigative panel, which included members such as Professor Theresa Akpoghome, Oghogho Ayodele Oviasu, Surveyor Andrew Oliha, Idris Abdulkareen, President Aigbokhian, and Mariam Erakhoba Ilavbare, concluded its proceedings on Friday.
Their task was to delve into accusations of gross misconduct and perjury against the former deputy governor.

In the wake of these developments, Omobayo Marvellous Godwins steps into the role of Edo State’s deputy governor, poised to assume responsibilities in support of Governor Obaseki’s administration.
