Obaseki Promises First-Class UNIBEN Graduates Automatic Jobs

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki announced at the 48th Convocation and 53rd Founders’ Day of the University of Benin that first-class graduates from Edo State would receive automatic recruitment into the State Civil and Public Service.

Addressing the audience at the UNIBEN main campus, he expressed gratitude for the university’s role in positioning Edo State as a hub for human capacity development.

The Governor stated, “It is now a standing policy for the Edo State Government that any student of Edo State origin graduating with a first-class degree from any recognised university gets an automatic job from the Edo State Government.”

This commitment extends to 179 students who may not immediately pursue further studies. The governor also praised the university’s impact.

“This university is all about knowledge for service and what this university has done to position Edo State in Nigeria in terms of human capacity development is unheard of”, he said.

As part of the event, Mrs Betsy Obaseki was honored with a Doctorate Degree. She announced plans for a legacy project at UNIBEN’s Ekenwan Campus and dedicated the degree to her husband, Governor Obaseki, who she credited for her success.
