Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has stated that Peter Obi was the actual winner of the 2023 presidential election.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Tonight on Monday, Lawal stated that, based on the information available to him, the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, won the election that declared Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s 16th president.
A vocal critic of the current administration, Lawal insisted that Tinubu did not win the election, adding that “the result available to him at that time showed he didn’t win the election.”
“The problem with Bola Tinubu is that he thinks I’m the one that offended him. I didn’t offend him, he offended me and he is full of himself, and he thinks that he now so-called president…I believe he didn’t win the election,” he said.
Justifying his claim, Lawal said they monitored the election closely, collecting data and tracking results from the field. He alleged that some of the results were tampered with.
When asked about his issues with Tinubu, Lawal described him as “arrogant,” adding, “He has an arrogance that defies description.”
