Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi has congratulated Nigerian football sensation Victor Osimhen for securing the prestigious Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Player of the Year award.
Osimhen, 24, earned this accolade on the back of an outstanding performance during Napoli’s triumphant Serie A campaign.
The prolific Super Eagles striker netted an impressive 26 goals in 32 league appearances, contributing significantly to Napoli’s league title victory.
Despite a challenging start to the 2023-24 season, Osimhen’s goal-scoring prowess remains formidable, with six goals from 10 games after the 14th gameweek.
The AIC Player of the Year award has previously been claimed by football luminaries such as Rafael Leao, Gianluigi Buffon, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrea Pirlo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
