Peter Obi has reaffirmed his commitment to education and healthcare by donating an additional ₦25 million to the Daughters of Divine Love (DDL) in Emene, Enugu, for their proposed College of Nursing project.
The donation, made in partnership with Professor Philip Ozuah, brings their total contribution to the project to ₦100 million.
Obi stated “In the spirit of Saint Valentine, which the Church celebrated yesterday, I visited the DDL in Emene, Enugu, to support their College of Nursing project.”
Love and charity, which St. Valentine epitomizes, are best expressed through sacrifice for others.” The donation, he noted, was a joint contribution between him and Professor Philip Ozuah, bringing their total support for the project to ₦100 million.
Obi decried the rising culture of materialism in Nigeria, arguing that it fuels poverty and hardship.
He stressed that national development should be anchored on love and service to humanity. “True progress comes when leaders and citizens embrace love through service, compassion, and shared prosperity,” he said.

“One cannot build physical infrastructure without first building human infrastructure,” he noted, pledging to continue supporting the nursing school until it becomes fully operational.
Obi further urge Nigerians to foster a more compassionate society. “Love must be driven by our actions towards a caring and better society,” he emphasized.
His donation aligns with his long-standing advocacy for investment in education and healthcare as fundamental pillars of nation-building.
