2027: Obi, Atiku, Amaechi, Malami, Others Attend National Consultative Group Meeting in Abuja

Key Nigerian opposition leaders, including Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, gathered today at the Continental Hotel in Abuja for the National Political Consultative Group (North) meeting.

The high-profile event, aimed at strategizing for the 2027 general elections, signals a critical step in ongoing coalition talks to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The high-level meeting, which also drew prominent political stakeholders from across the northern region, such as former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami and Mustapha Sule Lamido (San Turaki), Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Adolphus Wabara, and BabaChir Lawal, among others, underscores the growing momentum behind efforts to unite opposition forces.

Atiku announced their arrival in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he shared a video showing himself and Obi exchanging pleasantries with key stakeholders ahead of the event.

“Peter Obi and I just arrived at the Abuja Continental Hotel for the National Political Consultative Group (North) event. -AA,” Atiku wrote in the accompanying caption.
