Peter Obi Condemns Horrific Kidnap and Killing of Naheeba; Urges Swift Action Against Rising Insecurity

In an expression of concern, former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, has decried the tragic killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the harrowing kidnapping of her father and siblings in Abuja. Obi lamented the incident as a stark reflection of the escalating insecurity gripping the nation.

Obi underscored the gravity of the situation, stating, “The trauma being experienced by this family and the blood of this innocent child should prick our conscience as leaders, whose duty it is to protect the life of every Nigerian citizen.”

Drawing attention to the alarming spread of such incidents, Obi pointedly noted, “The fact that these kidnappings, killings, and other reported cases of armed robbery and violent attacks are now taking place in Abuja, the nation’s capital, is a clear pointer to how insecure the rest of the country now is.”

Urging immediate action, the former governor called upon the government and security agencies to redouble their efforts. “The government and the security agencies need to put in more efforts to rescue the remaining family members in captivity, ensure that every part of the nation is secure, and that every Nigerian is protected in our nation.”
