“Save This Nation from Further Collapse into Anarchy”, Obi Tells Tinubu. Condemns Kidnap of 200 People in Niger

In an appeal, Mr. Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has called on Chief Bola Tinubu and security agencies to take immediate action following another tragic bandit attack in Niger State. The incident in Kuchi village, Munya local government area, resulted in the deaths of seven people and the abduction of over 200 others.

Peter Obi expressed his deep concern over the recurrent violent attacks and abductions in the region, emphasizing the severe impact on the community, especially on farmers. “These recurrent violent attacks and abductions of people are fast becoming an ugly tradition among us, which if left unchecked, can consume everyone in no distant time,” he stated.

The attack in Kuchi village has once again highlighted the critical issue of insecurity in Niger State, a region known for its vast fertile lands crucial to Nigeria’s food production. The ongoing violence has disrupted agricultural activities, affecting food security and pushing more people into poverty and hunger. Obi stressed the importance of addressing this issue urgently to prevent further economic decline.

“I commiserate with the families of those who died in the attack, who according to reports are mostly security men. May God comfort their families, as we pray for the release of those abducted,” Obi said, offering his condolences to the affected families.

The need for decisive action from the government and security agencies was a key point in Obi’s message. He urged them to rise to the occasion and prevent the nation from descending further into chaos. “The government and security agencies must rise and save the nation from further collapse into anarchy. I will continue to insist that a more secure and happier Nigeria is possible,” he declared.

The repeated attacks have not only caused loss of lives but also created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among the villagers. Many of them, primarily farmers, are unable to work their lands due to the constant threat of violence. This situation threatens the livelihood of countless families and the overall stability of the region.

Peter Obi’s call to action is a reminder of the urgent need for improved security measures and a comprehensive strategy to tackle the banditry and abductions plaguing Niger State. The safety and well-being of the people, particularly those in rural farming communities, must be a priority to ensure the nation’s food security and economic stability.
