Peter Obi Donates ₦10 Million to Ibadan Nursing College, Reiterates Education, Healthcare Key to Nigeria’s Future

The former Anambra State governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to education and healthcare development with a ₦10 million donation to the College of Nursing Science, Oluyoro, Ibadan.

Obi made the donation during his visit to the institution on Wednesday, where he interacted with students, faculty members and staff on the importance of their role in building a healthier nation.

He said the gesture was part of his continued support for critical sectors such as education, healthcare and poverty alleviation, describing them as the foundation for a prosperous Nigeria.

“Today, Wednesday 12th November, in my continued support for the critical areas of development in our dear nation, including education, healthcare, and alleviating poverty, I visited the College of Nursing Science, Oluyoro, Ibadan,” Obi said.

He explained that his donation was aimed at enhancing the school’s facilities and providing better learning resources for students preparing to serve in the country’s health sector.

“In my commitment to supporting education and healthcare, I donated ₦10 million to enhance their facilities and provide better learning resources,” he stated.

Obi urged Nigerians to prioritise education and health, saying no country can develop without strong human capital investment.

He said, “Our nation can only rise when every Nigerian has access to quality education, dependable healthcare, and opportunities to lift themselves out of poverty.”

He called for collective effort to empower young people, support schools and strengthen health institutions as the pathway to building a fair and productive society.

“We must invest in our youth, support our schools, and strengthen our healthcare institutions so that we can build a future where every Nigerian can succeed and contribute to a stronger and more prosperous nation,” he said.

He concluded his remarks with a note of optimism, saying, “A New Nigeria is POssible.”

Following his visit, social media users praised Obi for his personal commitment to social development at a time when many politicians are accused of neglecting citizens’ welfare.
