Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has expressed admiration for Peter Obi, former Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, applauding his recent emphasis on the crucial need for Nigeria to boost productivity.
The commendation came during a recent event in Abuja, as Governor Bago was honoured with the Award of the Leadership Governor of the Year 2023.
During his acceptance speech, Governor Bago acknowledged Peter Obi’s insights, stating, “We have cleared deliberately over a million hectares of land. So, my boss (Peter-Obi), you’re very right about what you have said. We have no reason to be poor.”
“People may not like you, but they must hear you. Because what you say is the Gospel Truth.
“Nigeria needs to be productive. You cannot be out of poverty unless you start to produce,” he added.
Governor Bago highlighted Nigeria’s abundant resources and the potential for self-sufficiency and exports.
He proudly shared that Niger State has taken the lead in agriculture, attracting over a billion dollars in agribusiness investments.
Assuring the public, the Governor stated that with the implemented agricultural policies, both Niger State and Nigeria at large will have ample food for domestic consumption and export.
Expressing gratitude to the Leadership Group for bestowing the prestigious award, Governor Bago commended the efforts of the management and staff.
He pledged to justify the honour through continued dedication to agricultural advancements and policies that will contribute to productivity and prosperity in the nation.
