Eid-el-Kabir: Peter Obi Donates Cows for Almajiri Schools in Five States

In a heartwarming gesture during this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, extended his generosity to Almajiri schools across five states.

Recognizing the importance of this festive period, Obi ensured that the children at these schools were not left out of the celebrations.

Understanding that Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Salah, is a time when families traditionally slaughter a cow or ram and share the meat among themselves, Obi felt a deep need to provide for those children who might not have families to ensure their celebration was equally joyous.

Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, stated, “He felt the need that when it is Salah period, every home, every parent slaughters meat or a cow or a ram for his own children so that they can enjoy the bountifulness of Salah.

“In the case of these particular children, some of them may not have parents. So he decided that this particular year, he sent them this particular cow for them also to celebrate so that they can have a different taste and have the feeling of parenthood,” he said.

This initiative was met with gratitude from the schools and the children alike. Ja’afar Musa, Chief Imam of Kawo Eid Ground, expressed their heartfelt thanks to Obi and those who advised him on this charitable endeavour.

Ja’afar Musa said, “We want to say thanks to him and the people that are around him. They gave him advice about this and he took the advice, he did this one. We are going to say thanks to him.”
