In a ceremony hosted by Global Affairs Magazine (GAMA), Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, was honored with the prestigious Best Politician of the Year 2023 award.
The event, themed “A Channel of Hope Where There is Despair,” celebrated individuals making positive impacts. The GAMA Awards also recognized notable figures in entertainment and media. Arise News’ Rufai Oseni was lauded as the ‘Most Courageous Television Host’ of the year.
Popular Nollywood veteran, Kanayo O Kanayo, Orits Wiliki, and Yinka Davies received accolades for their contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment scene. Amidst the luminaries, Koffi Nuel, a popular comedian, expressed gratitude, saying, “This is for God, my family, and everyone in my team.”

The awards extended beyond entertainment, honoring individuals like Daniel Olukoya of MFM with a lifetime achievement award for service to humanity. Regina Robinson, GAMA convener, emphasized the awards’ purpose: “To celebrate and reward distinguished men and women who are selfless and have impacted others positively.”
Bala Abraham, chairman of Global Affairs Magazine, pledged the foundation’s commitment to aiding the needy. The event showcased Tee Mac’s scintillating flute performance alongside Yinka Davies. Reflecting on the recognition, reggae artist Orits Wiliki remarked, “I dedicate this to the last born in my family, Mrs. Becky; we have weathered the storm together over the years.”
