In a strategic move gearing toward the 2027 presidential elections, supporters of Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, known as the Obidient movement, have initiated a significant step by establishing a harmonization committee.
The primary objective of this Obidient committee is to foster peace, unity, and reconciliation among citizens, aiming to consolidate their gains and enhance their position for the upcoming elections.
The inauguration of the committee took place over the weekend in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, with representatives appointed from all six geopolitical zones of the country.
This inclusive approach ensures a nationwide reach, reflecting the movement’s commitment to representing diverse perspectives and experiences.
Led by Comrade Joseph Enan Maigari, the Obidient committee comprises individuals from various backgrounds and regions, highlighting a diverse pool of expertise and insights.
Maigari stressed the pivotal role of the committee’s mission, emphasizing Nigeria’s status as a wounded nation due to past and present leadership failures.
Maigari stated, “We are a wounded people because of the failure of the past and present leadership, no matter on which side we stood. We all stand in need of healing. We on the team are no superhuman exceptions. We too need forgiving and to forgive ourselves in order to be able to wrestle the oppressors holding this country captive since 1960.
“Everyone is aware that we have been assigned a delicate task whose execution, success or otherwise, will have critical and far-reaching consequences for our land and nation in the coming years.
“We will be engaging in what should be a corporate nationwide process of healing through contrition and forgiveness. To be able to forgive one needs to know whom one is forgiving and why. That is why the truth is so central to this whole exercise,” he added.
