Rivers Is Not Private Estate — Odili Applauds Fubara for Resisting Wike’s Influence

Former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili, has lauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his decisive actions in resisting alleged attempts by Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to dominate the state.

Odili, speaking during a Christmas night of songs organised in honour of Governor Fubara and his family, described the governor’s actions as bold and commendable. He credited Fubara with restoring governance stability and uplifting the morale of civil servants and residents.

“Governor Fubara demonstrated exceptional courage to emancipate Rivers people and prevent the state from being captured as a private estate. His leadership has restored the joy and progress we once enjoyed until I left office in 2007,” Odili said.

He further noted that political crises can sometimes serve as catalysts for progress and praised Fubara for turning the conflict into an opportunity to reaffirm the state’s independence and unity.

In his response, Governor Fubara attributed his success to divine intervention and the support of Rivers people.

“God is the ultimate liberator. The strength and encouragement from Rivers people have given me the resolve to continue standing firm for the state,” he said.

The governor also pledged to prioritise progress and prosperity for Rivers State, assuring citizens of continuous development as the state moves into 2025.
