‘Supreme Scandal,’ Odinkalu Blasts Supreme Court Over Obi’s Appeal

Supreme Court

Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned Nigerian human rights activist, has accused the Nigerian Supreme Court of committing a ‘Supreme Scandal’.

The controversy stems from the absence of a documented ruling on the appeal lodged by Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate.

Obi had contested the results of the presidential election held on February 25.

The Supreme Court, presided over by Justice Inyang Okoro, had deferred its judgment on the appeal after all parties presented their briefs of argument.

However, the Labour Party has expressed concerns over the lack of a documented ruling on Obi’s appeal since October 26.

This situation has led to Prof. Odinkalu’s accusation, terming it a ‘Supreme Scandal’.

Obi’s appeal contained allegations of election irregularities and manipulation of votes in favour of Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress.

The Supreme Court has yet to issue a response to these allegations as at press time.
