Despite Reportedly Hiding Yahaya Bello From EFCC, Governor Ododo Warns Criminals to Stay Away From Kogi

Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has issued a stern warning to criminal elements, declaring that the state is not a fertile ground for criminal activities.

Speaking to journalists after observing his Eid-el-Kabir prayer at Okene Eid Praying Ground, the governor emphasized that those testing his administration’s resolve would face severe consequences.

Ododo cited the recent incident involving the kidnapping of students from Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, as an example.

He stated, “They came to test the waters, to find out what our reactions will be, and truly, they faced the consequences of their actions.

“Kogi is not a fertile land for anybody to come and trade free in terms of crimes and criminality.

“They have come and they have seen the results; if they dare come in their numbers they will go back in their zeros.

“I can’t tell you what awaits them, but I hope they will never try it again,” Ododo added.

He stated that 29 of the 31 kidnapped students were successfully rescued, while unfortunately, two students were killed by the abductors.

“Security is one of our top priorities and responsibilities in Kogi; that is why we are doing everything possible with the support of Mr President to make sure that every soul in this state is protected and secured,” he added.

He assured that Kogi’s security forces, supported by Chief Bola Tinubu, are committed to protecting every resident. He equally praised the collaborative efforts of security agencies, vigilantes, and hunters in safeguarding the state.

He also highlighted the government’s commitment to promptly paying workers’ salaries, viewing it as a responsibility rather than a favor.

“I urge the people of Kogi and the entire Nigerians to continue to pray for our leaders, especially Mr President so that we can jointly pull ourselves out of this inherited economic crisis,” he stressed.

He called on the people to use the Sallah celebration to show kindness to the less privileged and to pray for national leaders amidst the economic challenges.
