Ogun Governor, Abiodun Orders Refund Of N10,000 Paid By Job Seekers For Application Form

Governor Abiodun has instructed the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Ogun State to issue refunds for all administrative fees paid by applicants in connection with the ongoing civil service recruitment exercise.

Recall that on Wednesday Ogun State government reportedly asked persons seeking employment into its civil service to pay a fee of N10,000 for application form. The fee was said to be non refundable.

This was communicated in a memo seen by SaharaReporters and signed by the Permanent Secretary Commission, Jacobs R.O on behalf of the Ogun State Civil Service Commission.

However the directive by the governor for a refund was communicated in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government and addressed to the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission.

The statement claimed that the money charged have been in place for decades but the government’s decision to remove it stems from their desire to help citizen.

” The State Government has, as a gesture of good faith and in acknowledgement of the current economic situation in the country and also taking into consideration the ultimate aim of this recruitment exercise, i.e. to alleviate the sufferings of the citizens and create employment in the state; instructed the immediate refund of fees paid and a waiver of fees for any new applications,” it added.
