The Ogun State government has announced the cancellation of all activities slated for the celebration of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day on October 1st.
The decision was made in accordance with the directive of the Federal Government to have a low-key celebration this year. The move is said to reflect the current mood of the nation.
In a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, he explained that this decision was in tune with the directive of the federal government.
The state government has urged citizens to spend the time solemnly praying for the country. The government believes that this period should be a time for reflection and prayer for the nation.
