Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has called on Chief Bola Tinubu to seek counsel from distinguished economists to tackle Nigeria’s economic challenges.
In a statement released by the group’s Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, on Thursday, the organization emphasized the need for urgent action to address the nation’s economic woes.
Highlighting the expertise of renowned economists such as Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, and Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, among others, Ohanaeze stressed the importance of consulting based on merit rather than tribal affiliations.

Isiguzoro stated, “The path to success lies in concrete and genuine consultations with the aforementioned world-renowned economists.”
The statement comes amid widespread economic hardship, marked by soaring prices of essential commodities and a weakening Naira. Recent protests over the high cost of living prompted a Federal High Court order for Tinubu to regulate prices within seven days.
Isiguzoro warned of dwindling patience among Nigerians and urged urgent action to avert further crisis. He criticized the current economic team’s alleged deficiencies, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive overhaul.
“In conclusion, Ohanaeze Ndigbo wholeheartedly pledges an unwavering commitment to championing the rights and interests of all Igbos and Nigerians,” Isiguzoro affirmed.
