Apostle Michael Olowookere has accused several prominent clerics and political commentators of betraying the Christian community in exchange for government appointments and political favours.
Speaking in a video shared on his X handle, Olowookere alleged that some Christian leaders had “become Esau in the spirit” and allowed their “bellies to become their god.”
He said many had “compromised” and “sold their soul to the devils” because of personal interests.
He specifically criticised Bishop Matthew Kukah, saying, “There was a time Bishop Kukah was a light in darkness in this nation.
“He was a beacon of light… only to be given an appointment in this government, and then he is beginning to sing a new song. So all it took for Bishop Kukah to betray the body of Christ is an appointment of a pro-chancellor.”

Olowookere claimed that several political commentators, including Reno Omokri, Daniel Bwala, and Femi Fani-Kayode, had also shifted their positions for political relevance.
“People that in the past have spoken against the innocent act of genocide… now, because of what they want, they are beginning to speak otherwise. And they are being rewarded by their master,” he said, referring to their recent ambassadorial nominations.
He also criticised religious figures who deny reports of targeted attacks on Christians. Mentioning Primate Elijah Ayodele, he said, “You call yourself an apostle, and you come to say there is no genocide. The Lord will hold you accountable. You will be judged.”
The cleric urged Christians to remain alert, saying, “Watch and pray… the watch means be prepared, be ready, be vigilant. If you don’t watch and they kill you, how do you pray?”
While delivering his message, Olowookere maintained that he would continue to speak out irrespective of the consequences, declaring that his life “belongs to Christ.”
He added, “What we will not do — we will never be silent. My life is not my own; my life is in Christ. You cannot silence me.”
Olowookere also rejected claims of national unity, saying, “Nigeria would rather break away. After all, we were never one. The concept of one Nigeria is a scam, it’s fraud.”
He concluded by warning that the Church “will not be silenced” and prayed that Christians would never “wake up one day shouting Allahu Akbar.”
