The Ogun State House of Assembly has removed Speaker Olakunle Oluomo from his position, citing allegations of gross misconduct.
Following his impeachment, Hon Oludaisi Elemide has been designated as the new speaker.
Oluomo, who secured re-election in June 2023 after a week of tense deliberations over the seat, faced a challenge from former Deputy Speaker Elemide.
Both politicians are affiliated with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which commands 17 of the 26 seats in the House. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) holds the remaining nine seats.
