Olympiacos End West Ham’s 17 Game Unbeaten Run in Europe

Olympiacos has ended West Ham’s 17 game unbeaten streak in Europe after beating the hammers 2-1 in Greece during their Europa League encounter.

Despite making some changes during the game, David Moyes’ squad, which won the Europa Conference League championship last season, was relatively the weaker team. The Hammers, who had been the first English team to go 17 games without a loss, lost their perfect start to the Europa League this season after giving up two goals in the first half.

Kostas Fortounis, the captain of Olympiacos, opened the score in the 33rd minute with a strong toe-poked goal from the edge of the box. Then, in stoppage time in the first half, the home team increased their lead when West Ham captain Angelo Ogbonna sliced into his own net.

West Ham failed to equalise despite a late goal from Lucas Paquetá. Their unbeaten start to the season has come to an end with this setback, which is their first in UEFA tournaments in 18 games.
