Renowned chess master Tunde Onakoya has launched a daring quest to surpass the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon.

Onakoya announced the commencement of this challenge via his X account, accompanied by the caption “Game time.”

This extraordinary event is unfolding at the iconic Times Square in New York City. It kicked off at 10 am on Wednesday, April 17, and is slated to conclude at 8 pm on April 19.

Onakoya is prepared for an arduous chess marathon, aiming to play continuously for an impressive 58 hours without suffering a single defeat.

The current Guinness World Record, established by Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad of Norway on November 11, 2018, stands at 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 37 seconds.
