Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has denied any knowledge of vote-buying by his political associates during the November 16 election.
His statement came just hours after he secured victory in all 18 local government areas of the state.
The incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) faced allegations of vote-buying following his landslide win. Aiyedatiwa addressed the claims, emphasizing that he was unaware of any such actions conducted on his behalf.
In an interview with Channels TV on Sunday night, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa dismissed the vote-buying allegations, stating that opposition parties were using them as an excuse to justify their defeat.
“I’m not aware of such. The opposition will want to say that to make excuses for their failure, but for us, it is what we worked for; the people have spoken through their votes.
” There won’t be any reason to buy votes because Ondo people know what they want. I’m not aware of people buying votes on my behalf.”
