Amid rising insecurity across Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has spent N167 million on refreshments and meals in the first quarter of 2025 while recording zero capital expenditure on its regional security outfit, Amotekun, despite allocating N2.3 billion for it.
This is according to SaharaReporters‘ review of the state’s 2025 Q1 budget performance report.
The report also shows that while nothing was spent on Amotekun’s capital needs—typically covering critical infrastructure and equipment the state disbursed N674 million on vague “other expenditures” within the same period.

This comes as insecurity worsens across the state, with deadly incidents such as the recent killing of Nelson Adepoyigi, the APC Chairman for Ward 5 in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area.

ParallelFacts earlier reported that Adepoyigi was abducted from his residence and later killed by his captors.
Confirming the tragic incident, Barr. Clement Kolapo Ojo, Chairman of Ose LGA, said in a statement released by his media aide, Oluwaseun Ogunniyi, that the community remains in deep sorrow.
“It is deeply saddening and utterly painful that the life of Nelson Adepoyigi was brutally cut short by his captors,” the statement read.
