One Killed As Boko Haram Attacks Customs Facility In Yobe

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked an office of the Nigeria Customs Service in Geidam town, Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe.

The attack, which occurred along Maine Soroa Road, resulted in the tragic death of one operative, Usman Gombe.

The insurgents stormed the Customs office in a Volkswagen Golf and a Land Rover around 10:00 pm on Saturday.

They began shooting indiscriminately, causing panic and chaos.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), with timely reinforcement from the Nigerian Army, managed to thwart the attack.

In the ensuing chaos, one of the officers, Usman Gombe, was shot dead while attempting to climb the fence.

The insurgents also set fire on the Customs patrol van, a generator, and part of the office building.
