Human rights lawyer and public affairs analyst, Abdul Mahmud, has accused the Nigerian government of deliberately covering up what he describes as the “ongoing genocide against Christians” in the country.
In a post on X, Mahmud faulted the government for what he termed its persistent denial of the killings, saying authorities have chosen to build “props and narratives” to hide the truth rather than take decisive action.

“Only those living in a fool’s paradise would deny the reality of genocide against Christians in Northern Nigeria. Yet, this government, and the Nigerian state itself, persist in denial, erecting props and narratives to obscure what is plainly happening,” he said.
His comment has stirred reactions on social media, with many users backing his position.
One X user, @db_Angbashim, wrote: “Even more outrageous is their disingenuous expectations, even clamour, for us the targets and victims to join them in the hypocritical denial of the obvious.”
Another, @IfeanyiDeclan, added: “They want to play politics with everything that holds Nigeria down.”
Mahmud’s remarks add to the growing outcry from citizens and observers who accuse the government of turning a blind eye to persistent attacks on Christian communities in Northern Nigeria.
