The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan, recently paid a visit to Abia State, where he lauded the accomplishments of Governor Alex Otti and expressed his belief in Otti’s capacity to provide effective leadership.
Oba Adeyeye was in Abia to partake in a grand civic reception and Thanksgiving event held in honor of the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu. During this visit, he also took part in the launch of the Peace in the South East Project (PISE-P), an initiative aimed at fostering peace, security, and development in the region.
Governor Otti shared details of the visit on his X page (formerly known as Twitter). He wrote,
“It was an honour to have received the presence of His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), the Ooni of Ife, at my country home in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA. The Ooni is a revered leader and a symbol of unity and peace for the Yoruba people and Nigeria as a whole.
“The Ooni was in Abia to attend the grand civic reception and thanksgiving organised in honour of the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, in Bende. He also participated in the unveiling of the Peace in South East Project (PISE-P), an initiative of Hon. Kalu to promote peace, security, and development in the region.
“During his visit, he expressed confidence in the ability of the state government to deliver good governance and dividends of democracy to the people of Abia. He said he had been following the achievements of the state government since its inception, and he was impressed by the competence, capacity, and character of our team. He also said he came around to learn from the vision and plans of the leadership of the state government for the future of Abia.

“I am humbled and grateful for his kind words and endorsement. He has shown great interest and support for the development and progress of Abia and the South East. He also prayed for my sound health and long life to fulfill my mandate.
“I thanked the Ooni for his visit and his gesture of love and solidarity. I also appreciated the other distinguished guests who accompanied him, including the former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke. I look forward to working with them and other well-meaning Nigerians to move our country forward.”
