A viral video circulating on social media has sparked outrage after a pastor claimed that Opay Bank, one of Nigeria’s popular fintech platforms, would soon shut down operations.
The video, shared by X user Chuks (@ChuksEricE), shows an unidentified pastor prophesying that Opay will experience technical issues before allegedly closing down between December 2025 and January 2026.

“Opay Bank is about to close. One day they will tell you that the bank is having technical issues; from there, they will close operating. It’s going to happen between this December and January next year,” the pastor said during the service.
In the same clip, the preacher also alleged that Opay operates as a “ritual platform,” warning people to withdraw their money before it’s “too late.”
However, the name of the pastor and the church where the prophecy was made remain unknown, and the claim has not been verified.
The video has since generated widespread reactions online, with many users dismissing it as another baseless prophecy, while others expressed fear and confusion
