Samuel Ortom, former Governor of Benue State, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel members who are also aligning themselves with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting on a firm stance against dual party loyalty.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, Ortom urged the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) to sanction those involved, stressing that it is unacceptable for anyone to pledge allegiance to two parties at the same time.

“You cannot be in PDP and another party,” Ortom asserted.
“We have instructed for their expulsion. It’s not feasible to maintain dual party memberships. One must choose to remain in PDP if that is their preference.”
Although he did not mention any names, his comments come amid growing tensions within the opposition following the formation of a coalition spearheaded by the ADC.
Several high-profile politicians — including some from the PDP — have backed the coalition while retaining their party membership.
Notably, Ortom’s ally and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has drawn criticism for openly supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) despite remaining in the PDP.

Wike notably endorsed Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections and has recently signaled his support for Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027.
Speaking on these developments, Ortom stressed that the PDP would no longer overlook such contradictions.
“Just today, I met someone campaigning for a coalition,” Ortom said, adding that he himself has returned fully to the PDP.
