In a move aimed at enhancing infrastructure and fostering economic growth, Governor Alex Otti has officially commenced the rehabilitation of the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abiriba-Ohafia road. Spanning 67.64 kilometers, this project marks a pivotal step towards improving connectivity and stimulating economic activities within Abia State.
Governor Otti emphasized the transformative impact of this endeavor, stating, “By improving these vital roads, we are opening up new vistas of economic opportunities and markets for our farmers and traders.” The project, slated for completion within twelve months, will see the upgrade of the existing road to a 2-lane asphaltic concrete carriageway, complete with streetlights in built-up areas and drainages on both sides.
Divided into three sections, the project will be executed by reputable construction companies, ensuring quality and efficiency in its implementation. Governor Otti underscored the collaborative nature of the initiative, emphasizing community involvement and support. “This is more than a government project; it is a community journey,” Otti declared, urging citizens to embrace the development and contribute to its success through civic duties like tax payments.
