Otti to Implement CCTV Strategy to Combat Insecurity in Abia

In response to recent security breaches, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has unveiled a strategic plan aimed at bolstering security measures across the state. Following a comprehensive review of the security situation in a recent State security council meeting presided over by Governor Otti, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, affirmed that significant steps have been taken to address the challenges.

Emphasizing the importance of leveraging technology in crime prevention, CP Onwuemelie stated, “These days there’s hardly any crime you would commit without applying some technology. The same way, technologies can be applied or leveraged to deter as well as detect crimes and also criminals.” As part of this technological approach, the state is embarking on the installation of CCTV cameras in strategic locations, with plans for further expansion.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, CP Onwuemelie reassured the public, stating, “By the time we come up with the measures that we discussed there, we will soon move in leaps and bounds in improvement regarding security in Abia State.”

Governor Alex Otti‘s proactive stance aims to quell concerns over rising insecurity, particularly in light of the recent kidnapping of Professor Godwin Emezue from Abia State University. The Commissioner of Police affirmed that security agencies, including the police, DSS, and military, are collaborating tirelessly to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted academic.
