Aba, Abia State—A video of Governor Alex Otti’s tour of Eziukwu Market, ravaged by a recent fire, has surfaced online, offering a look at the aftermath and the state’s response. Shared on his personal X (formerly Twitter) handle by his official photographer, the footage captures Otti’s assessment of the damage and commitment to aid affected traders.
“We are here to assist those whose shops were destroyed in the fire,” Otti stated during his visit to the market.
The fire, which erupted in the early hours of Monday, February 5, 2024, is believed to have originated from a single shop filled with flammable materials. Mayor of Aba South, Hon. Uche Nwogu conducted an initial investigation into the cause, pointing to a spark as the likely trigger.
