Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has voiced his support for the recent split of the popular Nigerian music duo, P-Square, stating that sometimes true peace can only be achieved by staying apart.
In a recent Instagram post, Edochie addressed the ongoing discussions surrounding the break-up of the twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye, who had initially separated in 2016 before reuniting in 2021.
The duo’s latest split, announced three years after their reconciliation, has sparked widespread debate among fans who believe the brothers are better together.
Edochie, however, disagreed with this sentiment, emphasising that fans urging the brothers to reconcile may not fully grasp the complexities of life and relationships.
He remarked, “I see people say, ‘Rudeboy, go and make peace with your brother,’ ‘Mr P, go and make peace with your brother,’ I just laugh,” said Edochie. “Many people still don’t understand what life is about. Sometimes real peace comes from staying apart.”
“Sometimes, even some family members have to be blocked to achieve peace. Sometimes, you just have to relate with people from a distance to have peace. Trying to be close will kill you. Life is short, especially for men.”
He highlighted the importance of prioritising one’s peace and expressed support for P-Square, regardless of their relationship status.
“Small thing man don fall. Too much stress. That’s why we have many widows everywhere. So, you have to be intentional about your life. And life na per head.
“Block anybody that needs to be blocked so you can have peace. Don’t look back. Fight for yourself. Stay alive. It’s good to see P-Square together. But if they have to stay apart to be happy and alive for us, let them stay apart. We love them regardless,” he said in the post captioned, “Being alive and happy is more important than being together,” Edochie added.
Edochie’s comments come amidst allegations made by Peter Okoye, known as Mr P, accusing his twin brother Paul, aka Rudeboy, of dishonesty and disrespect. Peter also claimed that their elder brother, Jude Okoye, had secretly diverted millions of dollars in royalties from P-Square’s earnings into a private account.
