Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri emphasized during an Easter Sunday service in his community of Sampou, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, that offering palliatives alone wouldn’t resolve the country’s economic challenges.
While not dismissing palliatives entirely, he stressed the importance of establishing effective structures and systems to tackle these issues.
He said, “On our part, the long-term solutions that we are putting in place are the technical colleges, the skills acquisition programmes, roads and other infrastructure and not palliatives that are short-term measures.

“Take advantage of our skills acquisition programmes, and that way, you will add value to yourselves and Bayelsa State. That way, youths will become productive.”
