Past Administration Looted Heavily, Left Empty Treasury – Gov. Kefas

Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has alleged that his predecessor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, left absolutely nothing in the Treasury. He said that Darius Ishaku emptied the Treasury before he exited office, leaving him with a rough beginning. The governor said this during the opening ceremony at the ongoing professional development workshop in Abuja on Monday.

The governor expressed his displeasure and worry over the situation he met as he explicitly stated that the past administration had greedily looted the Treasury, which left him with a Treasury as empty as a loud can. “Despite the empty coffers we have met on the ground since taking over on May 29, 2023, I have made sure that employee salaries are paid on time. In addition to meeting our commitments to pay pensions.

“We have also added those who had previously been off the payroll, allowing them to continue to receive their monthly pensions without interruption.” the governor said this through the head of service Suzy Jemima Nathan.

He also stated his administration has put in place a structure to clear out the messes and loopholes left by the past administration of Ishaku. “We will soon conduct a thorough biometric Data capture to establish the true size of the workforce, its strengths and limitations, and as well as where to improve through additional employment of our talented Young Men and Women transparently.

“We are entrenching a culture of paradigm shift in Taraba State civil service which is aimed at motivating the productive workforce and restoring work ethics to take the service to an enviable height.”She continues her address by stating that, “The executive arm is saddled with the onerous responsibility to implement policies and programmes of government through which dividends of democracy are delivered to the electorate.”
