The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Bola Tinubu to address Nigerians immediately in response to the ongoing nationwide protests.
These demonstrations, which began on Thursday, have been driven by widespread economic hardship in the country.
The protests, intended to last for ten days, have been marred by violence as security agents have attacked protesters.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Debo Ologunagba, the national publicity secretary of the PDP, criticized the president’s silence, stating that it has exacerbated the public’s agitation.
The PDP also condemned the crackdown on peaceful demonstrators, accusing the ruling party of “sponsoring thugs” to undermine the protests.

“It is indeed worrisome that President Tinubu could remain silent as Nigerians are on the streets demanding good governance, protection, security, and welfare, which are the primary purposes of government,” the statement read.
Furthermore, the PDP has demanded an investigation into the killing of protesters by security agents, urging that those responsible be held accountable.
