More than 2,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Isiala Ngwa South LGA of Abia State, led by their Ward Chairmen, have defected to the Labour Party (LP) in support of their representative, Rowland Dennis, who recently left the PDP.
Governor Alex Otti formally received the defectors and welcomed them into the LP, where they were presented with party flags by Isiala Ngwa South LP Chairman, Smart Ogbonna.
Addressing the new members, Otti described the Labour Party as an inclusive platform committed to good governance and open to all Nigerians.

He commended Dennis for bringing a large number of supporters into the party and assured the new members of equal treatment alongside long-standing LP members.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s focus on serving the poor and underprivileged by delivering the dividends of democracy.

He also dismissed speculations that Dennis’ defection was linked to the 2027 elections, emphasizing that his priority remains fulfilling his current mandate.
Hon. Dennis, in his remarks, stated that he joined the Labour Party due to Governor Otti’s impressive performance across the state.
