Pelumi Nubi, the adventurous content creator who embarked on a solo road trip from London to Lagos, has miraculously survived a car accident.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, she shared a photograph displaying her now-damaged car, depicting significant front-end wreckage and a shattered windscreen.
Accompanying the image was a video clip showing her being transported in an ambulance, accompanied by the caption: “Say a prayer for me.”
While specifics regarding the accident’s location, cause, and the extent of Pelumi’s injuries remain elusive, it’s evident that her journey, which commenced on January 31, 2024, has been fraught with challenges.
These hurdles include a 24-hour hold at the Liberian border and being refused entry into Sierra Leone just last week. Consequently, Pelumi has rescheduled her initial return date from March 23, 2024, to April 7, 2024.
In an interview with Channels Television, Nubi disclosed the driving force behind her transcontinental journey, stating: “Honestly, I just wanted to show that this kind of travel was very possible for someone who looks like me and really inspire the next generation of travellers to step out of their comfort zone and do incredible things.”
“Each time I try to imagine it (driving into Lagos), I get goosebumps because it’s just been such a tremendous journey, you know, showing people the parts and all of that, and then to get to this finale, and I hear it’s a homecoming like people have rallied up.”
Having journeyed to more than 80 countries, Nubi emphasizes the importance of demonstrating that as a woman traveling solo, while additional safety considerations are necessary, they shouldn’t deter one from exploring the world.
