The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has formally announced the commencement of a nationwide strike.
Effective from 12:01 AM on Monday, September 29, 2025, all members operating within offices, enterprises, institutions, and agencies are directed to suspend all professional activities.

This decision was ratified during the Association’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on Saturday.
In addition, PENGASSAN has instructed its members stationed at field locations, including control rooms, panel operations, and other technical posts, to cease operations starting at 6:00 AM on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Members are also urged to begin a continuous prayer vigil, seeking divine intervention for national leaders to hold Aliko Dangote and his associates accountable under Nigerian law.
The Association stressed that no field interventions will be allowed during the strike period, except in cases of emergency involving threats to personnel or critical assets. Such exceptions must be authorized by the National Secretariat.
PENGASSAN further ordered the immediate suspension of all gas and crude oil supply processes to the Dangote Refinery.

“All PENGASSAN members are to withdraw services from 00:01 on Monday, September 29, 2025,” the statement read. “International Oil Companies must also reduce gas production and halt supply to the Dangote Refinery and its petrochemical affiliates.”
The Association concluded with a call for prayer, urging members to ask for courage among those in authority to ensure that Dangote and his partners are held to the same legal standards as every Nigerian citizen. “No one is above the law. An injury to one is an injury to all,” the statement affirmed.
