“We are 35 million, and we don’t have an office anywhere other than the official one in Abuja, which makes it very difficult to administer this huge number from a single location,” said Gufwan.

Gufwan added that the purpose of their trip to Abia was to ask the governor for help in constructing a facility that would house the National Commission for Persons Living with Disabilities’ Southeast Zonal Office. He mentioned that Abia’s reputation for hospitality had a role in its selection.

The delegation was reassured by Governor Alex Otti that his administration does not discriminate against people with disabilities or any other group, including those from diverse ethnic or religious backgrounds.

Otti emphasized that a person’s disability does not define them, and he promised to support their proposal by offering Abia State as a location for its Southeast headquarters.
