Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has warned the African Democratic Congress ADC that failure to field former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi as its presidential candidate in 2027 general election could lead to the party doom at the polls.
Fayose made the remarks during an interview where he spoke on the state of opposition politics, the challenges within the PDP, and the growing relevance of other political platforms.
He said: “Obi is the only person in ADC that matters. When Obi went to the Labour Party, which no one knew about, the party won election to the House of Representatives.

According to Fayose, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi is a major political figure to watch ahead of the 2027 elections.
Fayose also said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is no longer Nigeria’s dominant opposition party, attributing its decline to internal divisions,
Speaking on why the PDP has struggled to retain its status as the country’s leading opposition party, Fayose said internal weaknesses made the party vulnerable, rather than actions taken by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“You must be very honest. When you are weak, tendencies are there for you to fall to the right of the stronger side,” Fayose said.
