Peter Obi is Nigerian Version Of Donald Trump, Says Tinubu’s Media Aide

The Presidency has compared Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), to former U.S. President Donald Trump.

This comparison was made by Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Bola Tinubu, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

Ajayi pointed out the similarities between the two politicians, saying, “Peter Obi is Nigeria’s version of Donald Trump. Like Obi, Trump uses the most negative language possible to describe a country he wants to lead again, just to make a point and energize his supporters.”

Ajayi’s post also mentioned Trump’s recent debate with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.

He praised Harris, stating, “Kamala Harris skillfully handled Trump in their first face-to-face debate last night. Kamala clearly won the debate and demonstrated her capability.”

Ajayi further remarked on Trump’s weaknesses during the debate, adding, “Vice President Harris knew Trump’s weakness and set traps for him. Trump fell for her bait.”

Fact-checking played a significant role in the aftermath of the debate, according to Ajayi’s post.

He said, “Both candidates have been fact-checked on their claims in the debate. While Harris was reported to have made just one incorrect claim, Trump made 33 false claims in the same 90 minutes debate.”

The statement reads, “Peter Obi is the Nigerian version of Donald Trump. Like Obi, Trump will use the most negative epithets imaginable to describe a country he wants to lead again just to make a point and rile up his base.

“Kamala Harris prosecuted Trump very well in their first face to face debate yesterday night. Kamala convincingly won the debate and left no one in doubt about his capacity.

“Vice President Harris knew Trump’s weakness and set traps for him. Trump fell for her baits. Both candidates have been fact-checked on their claims in the debate. While Harris was reported to have made just one incorrect claim, Trump made 33 false claims in the same 90 minutes debate.”
