On Saturday, Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, visited internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Bokkos and Barkin-ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, areas that witnessed attacks by armed men on Christmas Eve.
Accompanied by party officials from the state, Obi pledged to donate to each of the local government areas, where displaced persons are currently seeking refuge.
Expressing dismay, he strongly condemned the attacks that resulted in the loss of lives and property, emphasizing the government’s obligation to protect its citizens and their belongings.

Obi voiced concern about the increasing number of Nigerians seeking refuge as displaced persons within their own country, deeming the situation unacceptable and urging the government to address it promptly.
The Christmas Eve attacks by gunmen targeted over 15 communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas, resulting in the tragic loss of more than 190 lives.
The attackers, armed with guns, set numerous houses ablaze, looted farm produce, and destroyed properties while inflicting harm on the residents. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the devastating attack.
